Great Choral Treasures Sing - Part I Sacred and Secular Songs Time to get those vocal cords back into shape! Sing along from home as we explore some of the great choral masterpieces! We will scroll the music on the screen as we sing great choral literature old and new! This is a GREAT way to start to working on getting your voice back into tip top shape.

South Shore Chorale Annual Meeting Zoom in and hear the latest update from SSC's Board of Directors. We will review the 2020-2021 virtual year as well as look to the future. This annual meeting is a great opportunity to ask questions to learn more about the workings of our organization. 6:30 - 6:55 pm Music Theory Compound Time Signatures and Sight Reading Time to FINALLY understand those nasty compound time signatures! We will break down EVERYTHING you need to know on being able to perform more confidentally in time signatures divisible by 3 (6/8, 9/8, 12/8, 6/4, 9/4, 6/16, etc.). Once we finish our study, we will incorporate what we learned into some 4-part sight reading practice. Can this night be any more exciting?

Listening Session A Choral Dejavu We will listen to and discuss several songs with the same texts by different composers. How did each composer treat the music differently? Were there similarities? Discover some new and amazing pieces of music as well as rekindle your love for some good old favorites.

Meet the Artist A Musical Conversation and Performance with Organist Brent Erstad - Fond du Lac High Class of 2002 Brent directs the choral and chapel music programs and teaches in the arts and theology departments at Epsicopal High School In Alexandria, Virgina. In addition, Brent serves as assistant organist of St. John's Church, Lafayette Square in Washington, D.C., and manages the Royal School of Church Music Summer Training Course held each summer in Newport, Rhode Island.

Music Theory Everything you wanted to know, but were afraid to ask! Submit a music theory topic of discussion for Cory to address this night. A survey will be sent out after the February 2 Music Theory night for you to submit topics of discussion. Topics for this night will be selected from the membership who submit a response. This is YOUR CHANCE to determine the curriculum for this evening's session. These can be simple quick answers or something more indepth.

Meet the Artists A Musical Conversation and Performance with Erin Sura (soprano), Lizzy Bierman (accompanist), and Ryan White (baritone). Erin Sura (soprano), a Fond du Lac resident, has performed with various opera across the country. Sura was awarded second place in the Connecticut Opera Theatre Amici Vocal Competition 2009 and has performed with companies such as Commonwealth Opera, Boston Opera Project and Old Deerfield Productions in New England and the Florentine Opera Company, Milwaukee Opera Theater, and Music by the Lake in the Midwest. A native of the Milwaukee area, Ryan White has had the pleasure of performing such roles as: Figaro in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, William Williamson in Bolcom's A Wedding, and Pandolfe in Massenet's Cendrillion. Currently, Ryan is performing regularly with the Belle Ensemble out of Racine, WI as well as touring with Opera for the Young. Lizzy Biermann is a professional accompanist and piano teacher in the Milwaukee area where she is on staff with the Brookfield East High School Choral Department. In addition, she is the Director of Music and Liturgy at St. Charles Borromeo in Milwaukee, where she conducts the adult choir, adult handbells, children’s choirs, and children’s handbells as well as managing all aspects of liturgy within the parish. Lizzy is also a collaborative pianist and singer with the Milwaukee area group Opera on Tap.
